Given the state of the world and the challenges that we are facing as a community, Pacific Stageworks would like to say some things.

There is no room in any community for racism and prejudice. Period.

We support the Black Lives Matter movement. Period.

We want our community theater to reflect and represent all members of our community.

We encourage all local actors to audition. We accept and value actors and tech people of all ethnicities, races, genders, sexual orientations, and body types.

Theater is not just art, it is a tool that is used to tell stories: funny, sad, ridiculous, and challenging stories. Theater is a way for the audience to see things from different perspectives, and to experience different people’s lives and stories. To “climb into [someone’s] skin and walk around in it.” (To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee)

Even though we have the best intentions, we may not always get it right. We are absolutely dedicated to making people feel included and valued. It’s important to honor and respect and learn from our differences, and to know that underneath it all, we have the same kinds of feelings, hopes, goals, and needs.

If you want to be added to our email list to receive audition notifications, please send us an email at info@pacificstageworks.org.

The only way we can move forward is to do it together.

With hope and sincerity,

Heather Blackthorn, President
